Important Car Rider Announcement

Posted on by

North Salem has established a new and safer car rider route!

Parents will be now be required to fill out a form to receive a car rider permit. Once the application is complete, parents will receive a car rider tag to place on their rear view mirrors.

There will be a new car rider route, as well. Cars will be directed to keep to the right, as before, but now they will drive around the back of the building in a single-file line. The cars will stop at the yellow line marked near the back entrance of our building. Staff members will be looking for the car rider tag and number at drop-off and pick-up times.

This will add an extra layer of security for our students and expedite the car rider process for all. Applications will be sent home to parents in the welcome back letter. We will be accepting completed forms during the first week of school and it is our hope to have this procedure up and running by the second week of school. All parents must have a car rider permit by September 2, 2014, or they will be required to park in the visitor section and sign in at the office to pick up their child.

Your support, patience, and cooperation will be greatly appreciated as we work to improve this process.

DOVER AREA HIGH SCHOOL SPRING MUSICAL

The actors playing the family: Annie Kurz, Kayla Miller, Bella Portelles, Will Shearer and Lizzy Cook

This year’s high school musical is the classic FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.  Set in Czarist Russia in 1905, the story centers around Tevye, a humble but wise milkman (played by senior Will Shearer), and his no-nonsense wife Golde (played by senior Lizzy Cook).  They enlist a Matchmaker (Morgan Brown), as is the tradition, to find husbands for their 5 daughters. But each of the eldest 3  (Kayla Miller, Bella Portelles and Annie Kurz) finds a husband on her own: one a shy tailor (Sam Jordan), one a teacher with revolution on his mind (Eamonn Mailey)and one a Gentile (Michale Kozuch).  While Tevye can accept the first two, he cannot sanction the third.  He struggles as his world comes to an end—literally as well as figuratively—for he and the other Jews in the town are ejected from their homeland and must emigrate to America as the show ends. It is a universal story of family, tradition and change in our lives.

The show will be performed at the Dover High School on March 6, 7 & 8.  You don’t have to be a rich man to afford tickets.  Adult admission is $8.00, student and senior citizen admission is $6.00.  Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7 pm and the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m.  Tickets go on sale Feb. 1 and can be reserved online at dovertickets@comcast.net or in person on Saturday, Feb. 21 and 28 from 10 am to noon in the auditorium lobby.  Tickets will also be sold from one to two pm on March 3, 4, and 5 at the high school.  All seats are reserved.

Mrs. Jacklyn Keagy directs the production with Mrs. Jamie Brandstadter as assistant director.  Musical Pit Director is Mr. George Bradshaw, Mr. Andrew Apgar is choral director and Mr. Dale Keagy is set designer.  There are over 80 high school and intermediate school students involved in this production as actors, musicians, and crew members.
